Just curious as to the state of hiring at the local ambulance companies around seattle (AMR, Pro transport, tri-med, rural/metro). I moved up at the exact wrong time and everyone tells me 'no, shoo, stop calling' (or no answer to emails). I just got NREMT cert in jan. and have been looking around since then- even hospitals (though they want MA or CNA/ LNA in ER)... pay isn't an issue, it's a job I want to do, which trumps pay in my book.

Thanks in advance for any inside help. I'm in Seattle, but willing travel a bit for 12 or 24 hr shifts.

Pro Transport shut down its Washington operation a month or two ago, flooding a market that already wasn't hiring with out-of-work EMTs. Best I can suggest is sending in applications every 6 months or so and being patient. The place I work at (Non-ambulance) just lost someone, but that opening might already have been filled from the applications already on file.

If you're into the outdoors, you can get state certified through search and rescue, but our next training cycle doesn't start until September. PM me if interested.

AMR has a huge backlog of applicants, and isn't hiring anyone anytime soon. TriMed just hired a large batch of EMTs, so no spots there now, although there may be some openings in Fall. From what I hear, the R/M guys are way overstaffed and there is still a hiring freeze. There are a couple of other spots you may want to check ... Northwerst Ambulance in Marysville may still be looking and I think that Olympic in Lacay is looking, too.

Good luck in your search.
