SB 556: Extremely futile (Hint: It's California!)

To be honest, I don't think it will affect EMS as much as other contract fields. The vast majority of private 911 providers drive their own vehicles instead of staffing government vehicles. All companies would have to do to comply is remove the "Proudly Servicing ____" off of their vehicles, and even that would honestly be questionable.

The bigger issue, in my opinion, is what happens at with physicians at hospitals. Per the California Medical Board, hospitals essentially can't directly hire physicians (arguably residents fall into a different category) due to laws prohibiting the corporate practice of medicine. As a result, physician groups contracted to provide services to local hospitals either can't wear a facility white coat, or are going to have to wear a patch. That could make this very... interesting.

I think it would be a waste to require such a label, but why does it even matter really? Other than pay, I think private companies are usually better than government operated organizations.
