STUDY TERMINATED EARLY DUE TO ANIMAL CRUELTY CONCERNS
Feb 20, 2004, 15:46

San Antonio, TX - A novel study designed to test the possibility of using
chimpanzees as ambulance attendants has been prematurely halted because of
animal safety concerns brought to light by the watchdog group PETA (People
for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).

Researchers at the Southwestern Primate Center in San Antonio and the
University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque began the
innovative study two years ago. Four western chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes
verus) who had mastered sign language were taught an abbreviated first aid
course and assigned to work on ambulances in New Mexico. The primates were
paired with a human Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) who was skilled in
sign language.

WOW. What happens if a patient gives them a hard time? They throw poop at them? HEHEHE.

Wow....I wonder if my company would be interested? And the chimps are DEFINITELY cheaper to feed than paramedics!

Did anybody actually read the entire article?

I hope they all know it's a joke, with out actually having to be told!

well.....have you heard of Oliver?Wacker?

Oliver always walked upright with a decidedly human gait. He learned to use a toilet, liked to watch TV with the Burgers, drink coffee and beer with them, and even took on simple household chores like feeding the dog.
{i've seen worse in uniform....} :)

and let's not forget those Ruskies you know, always a step ahead in genetics....

The hybridization experiments (the artificial insemination of human females by anthropoid sperm) were to be conducted only with the written agreement of the female. She would accept the risk and obey the required strict isolation regime. The experiments were to be conducted with all necessary safeguards, including preclusion of natural insemination. The trials were to be conducted on as many human females as possible, but in no case, fewer than five.

a country of cheap dates no doubt eh?

Great time to move to N.M.

I not only have to compete with people, but now I have to compete with primates. HAHAHA!!!!!! Glad I'm house broken. Thats a plus right.
