Hello everyone, Just wondering for anyone who has been through the Rural Metro Southwest Ambulance hiring process here in Arizona. How strict is there background check, not on Criminal record but as far as employment history goes, is it like going through a city background check or do they even check employment history? I have a clean background no drugs or anything I just cant remember dates so my resume is kind of a guess. any information is appreciated!

When I worked for Rural/Metro-Southwest Ambulance, the hiring process was pretty basic. They should still be doing a standard background check with drug screening. I wouldn't worry too much about exact dates but years should be okay. As long as you complete to the best of your knowledge and it isn't false, you should be golden.

The employment dates I included on my resume were rather vague past my most recent employer. They didn't seem to mind as they didn't ask about anything specific from my past jobs other than my listed fire service and training.

Everything else is pretty basic. Driving record check, basic criminal record check, physical including drug screening.

Good luck. Maybe I'll see you in the field .

With AMR coming to the Maricopa area with the intent to get a 911 AOR this year Rural Metro is fighting back hard. Recently they acquired PMT but still have there debt issues with Southwest. They are hiring like crazy right now for both southwest and PMT. Recently Apache Junction Fire sent off a letter to the state citing dangerously long response times of Southwest. AMR is foaming like a rapid dog at the mouth for a chance to take a bite out of the flesh of Southwest. AMR has already gotten a number of hospital transport contracts due to southwest dropping the ball with long lead times. AMR claims they think competition is needed in the valley but if they get a foothold they are like locust and will consume AORs and then kill off all competition forever.
