First let me say hi to everyone here. I've been reading these boards a little while now, mostly to get an idea about how to prepare for the NR testing. The sticky about online quizzes was great! Also I would also add in Michigan Education Library for those who live in that state... Anyhow on to the subject at hand.

Just looking for some experiences here. Recently took my EMT-P 'writen' and have the practical in a couple weeks. After that its time to look for employment as an EMT-P and I'm thinking it would be interesting to head out of state for a few years. Looking at the NREMT website it looks like the only states who do not recognize the NREMT-P cert are WY, IL, NC, NY and MA. Is this correct?

This second half may belong in another section, but since I'm posting I'll ask. For those of you who have switched states what are some good resources for finding (or at least looking) for jobs/providers before you head out there? Any tips or tricks? And how bad was getting all the paperwork/licensing taken care of?

In some states, although they recognize NREMT-P, you might still have to do a 36 hour transition course and take the state test, or something similar to that. (NM is the state I'm using as an example here).

And while I didn't do it at the medic level, I expanded my search for EMT/EMT-I jobs to several states since I couldn't find what I was looking for
