I was formally an Indiana EMT-B. I contacted Homeland Security and received all of the necessary documents for me to re-certify. Now I just need to know when and where I can take the exam. Does anyone know how I can find out this information? Thanks for your help in advance.

You need to talk to state. Federal cannot help you with anything.

What do you mean? I have all of the necessary paperwork. I just need to know when/where to go take the exam. Who should I contact in order to find out this information?

Look at the bottom under EMT and thats how you renew. I dont know if thats what you are trying to do. Contact the EMS department though.

I'm thoroughly confused as to how/why DHS would have such documents.

I don't know how it is in other states, but in Indiana all EMS/Fire certs. are given out by DHS. From the Indiana DHS website:

"...That system is regulated by the Indiana EMS Commission, a governor-appointed board whose policies and procedures are supported by the Emergency Medical Services Branch, Fire and Building Safety Division of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security."

Most other states, EMS falls under the state's dept of health, or similar agency.

I wasn't aware of that, my apologies.

NO problem, I think that's just why everyone got confused... I know when I first read it I thought you were talking about Federal DHS.
