I successfully passed my NREMT exam in 2011 followed by receiving my state licensure in Ca to become an EMT-B, in order to better assist my quadriplegic father. In doing so, I did not work in the field or prehospital setting or become affiliated with an agency during my initial certification. I have recently relocated to Nevada in the last 3 months with my father and would like to obtain actual employment here doing what I was trained to do. My certifications expire very soon and I would hate to lose my NREMT . Since I did not have 6 months official working time and I am not affiliated with an agency, does this mean I am not eligible to recertify?

I think you are going to run in to some issues, for one you need to have the EMT refresher course completed or attend classes through your sponsoring agency that meet the same time requirements as the refresher would give you. Second if you do not have the 48 hours of Continuing Education on top of that you will not be able to recert either. You need to call NREMT in Ohio and explain your situation to the re-certification manager and see what guidance they have for you, think you are going to have to end up doing the entire process over again though.
