I first started by using a high angle (cause that's what we were taught in class by the book) and I found for me that did not work well at all. I go in pretty low now and have a pretty good success rate with my IV's. Luckily, I do my ED clinicals at a fairly busy hospital and get a good amount of IV practice... and not to mention the RN I am with most of the time doesn't take over after a failed first attempt. She makes me keep trying til I get it which has been a tremendous help.
If its a deeper vein say in the AC then I will adjust my angle accordingly.
