Man. That really is unfortunate. Some really great things could be accomplished in some areas with a <5 minute class on proper continuous compression CPR technique, especially when people are clearly willing to help like in this video.
Never implied compressions are the fix all, but you have to start somewhere, and not much else will be successful without them. I don't know what this specific area has going on, but someone mentioned this may have occurred in the Philippines. I don't know what level of EMS coverage they have everywhere, but I know some areas at least have AED coverage on an ambulance. Someone posted on here a few months ago purporting to be a Filipino EMT. They mentioned they work with an ED RN on their ambulance and it sounded like they have a similar scope of practice as many US paramedics.Which is great and all, but you also need AEDs or BLS/ALS responses. Not really sure what it looks like over there, but my guess is compressions isn't their only setback. Compressions are important, yes, but they don't "fix" anything.
