My name is Aaron Rudd and I am currently enrolled at the University of Anchorage Alaska. I am about to finish my EMT-1 course and certification on December 14th. I have been accepted to Portland State University starting the winter term of 2014 and will be moving there permanently. I am very interested in working as an EMT in Portland or the surrounding areas. If anyone knows of any positions open/available for EMT-1 in Portland, please let me know. I really appreciate it.

I use to work in Portland.

Your 2 main transport options are AMR (Covers Portland and a couple of the near by counties also) and Metro west (Washington county, next door). Also, file for reciprocity as an EMT-B. Inside Portland city limits is double Paramedic ALS only units with AMR (the cities main 911 provider)

Its ok, I love the city of Portland, its my home, but I was unable to get fulltime work as a medic. I was only a part time employee. AMR was on a hiring freeze, I am not sure what there current status is like(this was over 3 years ago). However, all Portlands 911 ambulances are staffed by 2 paramedics with college degree's ;-) which is pretty nice I guess. However, they use system status management and its still tier response system with fire (cringe), who also have 1 medic on the engine.
