It takes a special kind of person
To put the safety and well-being of others first.
While others care only for family or close friends,
Police, firefighters, and medics care for strangers as well.
Quick on their feet and quick with decisions,
These are the people we trust to guide and protect us.
Fields as these aren't as glamorous as most think.
Constant stress and dealing with everyone else's burdens
Will slowly take a toll on an officer's life.
Sheer determination and the want to make a difference
Just isn't enough to stop all the bad in the world.
At the same time all the horrible things happen,
We build a bond with other officers and medics.
No matter their name or if you like them or not,
You all come together and bleed the same color.
The brother and sisterhood between officers
Is such a strong force of loyalty and respect.
You become family and family protects family always.
There will always be others more experienced
And new recruits better than the last,
But the thing to remember is stay safe
And never forget your heart matters most.
