we've had a few dog saves , i find it somewhat a bizzare detail trying to fit human toys to an animal..

I love the phrase "mouth-to-snout resucitation" :)

We carry pet O2 masks here and took a doggie first aid course as a department... I missed it, unfortunately, but I hear it was pretty good. We learned how to intubate dogs and such, too...

This has got to be one of those "you know you're a hick when" kind of moments :D

You should try it some time! A cats face is covered with thousands of tiny strands of fur, and when wet and sooty, they stick to everything.

Animal Oxygen devices and resuscitators have been around for decades, but the companies I've served with probably don't carry them now, and certainly didn't when I learned about sooty kitten faces..

But it never hurts to try. If you think it's worse than it sounds, it's not, but you can always use a round, cuffed neonate mask to blow air in via Mouth to Mask-over snout resuscitation.

I do have a pet resuscitator, that is quite old, but I do not have the number of oxygen tanks necessary to operate its pneumatic workings.

You guys think there will ever be an EMS service exclusively for pets/animals?

ya know I took this to a dog forum and ended up getting crucified for talking EMS in a dog forum. (I thought it was dog related as it discussed resuscitation of dogs in general - guess it wasnt....)

And anyway, I think it would be cool to be able to resuscitate animals. and yes I would resuscitate mine if it ever came down to it. (After I make sure my daughter is OK though.) Yeah I love my dog that much.

I actually learned pet CPR before I ever learned human...I was a vet tech for 3 years as a teenager. It's pretty much is the same, and they do make BVM's and all the other toys for pets.

You know a pet ambulance is a good idea, could make a good amount of money if you could contract/partner with the right Vet office.
