So I just completed a class today at work, and I thought it was a pretty good class. it was titled PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY ASSESSMENT, RECOGNITION, AND STABILIZATION (PEARS). from what i've been told it's kinda like PALS, but for BLS providers. the link to the AHA site is http://www.amhrt.org/HEARTORG/CPRAn...and-StabilizationPEARS_UCM_308135_Article.jsp

if you can take it, i would definitely recommend it, as it really does go over the pediatric assessment, and has some awesome pictures and videos.

here is a description of the class:

The main focus of PEARS is prevention, and specifically the assessment, recognition and stabilization of pediatric victims at risk of severe cardiopulmonary distress.

Students develop skills in recognizing certain pediatric distress signs and symptoms using several unique visual cues and working at learning stations. Because typical PEARS students do not regularly treat critically ill children, the course includes video-based simulation so they can actually see and hear critically ill children.

just thought i would share

Hello,

I'm also from New Jersey, and I've been trying to find a place where I could enroll for this course. Could you please let me know where you took the course? Thank you.

I took mine in New Brunswick, but you can find them popping up all over. go on the LMS and search for it, they offer it in at Newark Beth Israel too (I know onf of the instructors), and I'm sure other places are running it at well.
