between Topical and transdermal routes?

Yes, actually there is. Topical is absorbed into the skin tissue. Such as Neosporin etc..

Transdermal goes through the skin at a predetermined rate, usually slower and goes systemic (throughout the body) such as Duragesic, Nitroglycerine, etc..
