Hi, I'm currently training as an EMT in Ireland and I'm thinking about going to Canada to train as a paramedic. Looking for advice on how to do this!!

Will my EMT qualification be recognised over there?
Is it possible to train as a paramedic if you're a non-Canadian resident?
How expensive is it?

Any tips?
Thanks :-)

A lot of the provinces follow the NOCP (www.paramedic.ca ) profiles. If would feel that your training meets any of them you can apply to the province you want to work in and they will evaluate it. Paramedic school ous very expensive here. Most are at least 10 to 15 k. You would need a student visa from the government to study here.

What is in your scope? Maybe this is old or I am mis informed but I was told that the ambulance (in Dublin anyway) was staffed by newbie firefighters or firefighters who were on suspension or in trouble for some reason. I was told this by a guarda when i was in Dublin in 2002.
