Well I have made it through the first two modules. The first was fundamentals of EMS, made a "C" on that. The second one was patient assessment and I made a "D" a 77% to be more exact. I have a four round trip, I think I am getting used to it, being that is been two months already. I am studying best I can. My wife was very sick and in the hospital and I think that distracted me.

Next up is airway and I need a "A" for airway. But gotta have a 94-100 for and A. Anyhow this school is tough, we are are looking at power points our instructor is using. The text is brady but he wants to go in more detail, so we are looking at nuerologic assessment from a med school book and various other subjects have power points from brady critical care paramedic.

Anyhow I need to buckle down more.

i don't really remember Airway being all that hard. it was pharm that killed me. you should do fine.

What did you end up making in pharmacology.

yeah Pharm is hard. we have our midterm next week, which will include our first actual test on pharmacology

Don't minimize the impact that an illness in the family had on your schooling. The fact is, you DID get through without jeopardizing yourself, and now you can pick up the ball. But take it easy. If you trust yourself, then know you'll do the catch-up later, but for now, just getting through is okay. AND, it's a relatively short haul!

That is a pretty nasty grading system... I mean, at my school you fail out with below a 75 in the class for more than two test periods or less than 75 on the final, but if you have a 76 you still get a high C in the class, and 80 gets a B, 90 gets an A.

See, Pharm is sort of difficult but really interesting to me. I think that my desire to actual know the material is what helped me get through it. Is it not awesome to get to learn how drugs actually work at the cellular level?

grading %'s

In my classes, the grading breakdown is:
95-100% = A
88-94% = B
80-87% = C
75-79% = D
<74% = F
Thus you have to keep an 80% to stay in the program.
Good luck in Pharmacology! My text was 1300 pages long, done in 9 weeks!

I agree it is interesting, it's just alot to take in in such a short amount of time. I feel like everytime i re-study that chapter i learn something new, which bothers me.

Our grading system is same except a 75% to stay in program. We do one module every 3 weeks I think. Although you can get through with a 75% your GPA will suffer and you can go on academic probation/suspension, which will earn you a drive to the house.

Now that the family crisis is over, I missed two days of class, I think I can go back at it.
