Hey everyone! I completed my orienatation to paramedic school wed night and it already seems overwhelming and SO exciting- I'm not complaining; it was so tough to get in, that I am grateful just TO BE IN!! But, I am wondering from those who have done it before, what is a managable class load for fall term? I will not be working in the ER fulltime while in medic school, just on an "as needed" or Per Diem basis, and my two medic classes are 10 credits. I also need 2 non-medic classes for my degree, and am not sure if I should take them in the fall (as the instructor warned that fall term is by far the most difficult), or if I should take them in winter term (when I will have 2 more medic classes and a full plate of clinical rotations) Spring term is ruled out because it is composed of internship ride alongs, and I need something like 400 hrs to graduate. Any ideas? I'm not trying to make it sound like "poor me"-I know many of you will be attending medic school while working full time and with families to support...I just need some guidance to make the best choice. All counselors are out for the weekend, and since I recieved my acceptance letter only 10 days prior to registration, I will need to decide by monday. Thanks for listening! Be safe out there!

It all depends on what type of classes you are needing as electives. I would suggest something that is not very demanding maybe, since you will be getting used to medic school. Check to see if there are "mini" semester courses, that are sometimes half the length. The first part of your Paramedic education will probably be the lighter as well as the final portion.

You may even consider some on-line courses, this might fit into your schedule; however i forewarn you they are usually are more difficult and have more reading & class work than traditional classes.

Good luck,
