My paramedic lapsed while I was working in a different occupation for a while. The lapse is over the 2 year mark, but I have all of my CE requirements to be able to re take the NREMT P exam. The NREMT wont allow me to re take the exam unless I have a letter from a state EMS office stating that they are allowing me to do so. I live in Texas and the state EMS office is refusing to do so, anybody have suggestions?

I hate to say it but with an expiration of that length and the state not agreeing to help you sounds like you may have to take the course again.
Have you called the NREMT or Texas EMS office and told them about your situation? Even then after 2 years I'd bet that you're going to be required to take the course again to re-certify yourself....medicine is dynamic, hence the CEU requirements.

If the state EMS office won't write you the letter, then you're gonna have to take the course again.
