does anyone here know what the entrance exam to a paramedic program is on? since i got over a 80 on my state test it said i dont need to take the emt part so what other part is there?

Either a HOBET or TEAS still test. Basically general education like math, reading comp, writing, science, all the fun stuff.

We will probably need more info. State? Type of program? Community college, university, technical?

Probably some form of reading comprehension and math test.

nym paramedic program

Not to be an *** but spell it out. Acronyms are a pain, we don't know your location or what's around you.

Not Your Mom's Paramedic Program?

That'd be my guess. It's pretty universal.

Looks like a decent program.

Looks like you will be exempt from the EMT knowledge like you said but as rob said you'll be given a basic entrance exam like any college would require then if you pass that you are interviewed in person.

Good luck. You've taken the first step and found EMTLIFE an excellent resource I'm sure you'll do fine. Please update us on your progress :)

Just took the HOBET and bombed it luckily i didnt have to pass it to get into my medic program just had to take it.. Some stuff was on there that I havn't seen since high school and some stuff I have never even heard of in the science section. So make sure you study some.

alot of fractions which I have not done in almost 10 years and the science was alot of periodic table questions, questions on photosynthesis... stuff I had no idea on.

I went to a Community College and didn't have to take any specific test for entry into the Paramedic exam. Just had to take the general college entrance exam for placement into general ed classes.

It's all high school level stuff. The tough part is not having seen or used it in x amount of years. Even at only 3 years out of HS some of the science questions on the TEAS threw me for a loop. Questions about plate tectonics for example.

Exactly once I saw division of fractions with a whole number:wacko:Havn;t seen that stuff in 10 years drew a complete blank.. felt pretty dumb to be honest.
