I am currently employed full time in a profession I am monetarily happy with, although maybe not "happy" with.

I received my EMT-B and have just started volunteering. Looking ahead (two years or so) I would like to move on to Paramedic as a volunteer. Has anyone taken a night program? How is it? Is it feasible with a full time job (M-F).

Further, if so..does anyone know of a program on Long Island in New York. I have researched Stony Brook U and LIJ? They seem like decent options?

Also over the next two years are there any college level classes I should take in preparation? A & P? Pharmaceutical?

Your help is appreciated!!!

It is manageable, but it's all about prioritizing. I have a full time job, family, and I'm working on my degree in EMS.

The most important thing is to not get behind. Even when you have a night or weekend without class or homework due, make sure to study. Even if it's just a chapter (or two or three) of reading or going over your notes from class.

As far as classes go, I would recommend going through a degree program, but that's not always an option for some. If you're not going through a degree program I would recommend A&P I & II with cadaver labs (if available). A good grasp of A&P will be an invaluable tool throughout your career. If you're looking for others, you may want to check out a chemistry course or even medical terminology.

Best of luck.
