Hello everyone. You can imagine how my face lit up when I stumbled upon this site! I'm hoping to get any feedback and tips on what kind of studying methods or practice you used.

I'm currently enrolled in the EMT program.
My midterm is coming up in a month. I'm doing well on the lecture part; however , I've come to learn that my biggest challenge will be the "Skills Test," ... Patient assessment (trauma and medical) to be exact.

The points possible versus the points allowed to miss can be quite intimidating... But I'm definitely up for the challenge.

Thank you for your time. Here's a quick joke for ya!
What do you call a cow trapped in a tornado? A milkshake!

Do the skill. A lot. Then grade others doing it. Then do it some more.

Memorize the sheet. Practice it until you can do it cold. It's just a list... Memorize it.

As far as passing EMT school, do just as the others have said: memorize the sheets, and practice, practice, practice the skills.

After you've done that, if you really want to learn the material and the why's behind it inside and out, teach. Nothing exposes gaps in your knowledge and understanding and solidifies things in your mind like teaching it to others.

Moved to the Education and Training Section.
