I swore I'd never make one of these posts other than making fun of people who want to do it. That thinking has now changed. As some of you know, I've been through the entire didactic portion of a medic school before, so this would be brush up followed by an internship so I can finally get my medic.

Does anyone know of any online didactic medic school similar to Excelsior for nursing?
I would do it here in Denver, but almost all the schools are hospital run and I can't even attempt to get financial aide for that kind of a P-school. If it's run by a college I at least have some hope of getting some kind of financial aide.

Both located here in Texas.

Forgot about that one :P And the only reason I am willing to consider this is I have been through it and have the education to back up whatever the medic mill tries to 'teach'

That "medic mill" you speak of (TEEX 10 week EMT-P) prepared me adequately. You just have to be more proactive there than you would at a 1 year program ... it all depends on the person, and if your willing to put in some extra effort. Have you ever met someone from a so called medic mill anyway?

Yes I have, several. Most of them didn't know their *** from a hole in the ground

Well I see the future of this thread.
Someone will say I know people with 4 year degrees in EMS that are worse than any 10 weeker I have met.
Then someone else will say Fire medics always take the easy shorter way and can't do anything but pull on their hose.
Then someone else will say EMS is not rocket science and in the short transport there is no need for so much education.
Then someone will say only the uneducated and short timer would fight against more education.
Then someone will say how can you expect someone to invest so much time and money when they are going to make minimum wage.
Then someone will say...................

I'd be careful preaching medic mills on here:ph34r:

Why didn't you finish last time? Why can't you take out a loan with your bank? Medic school isn't that expensive.

I'm in my 2nd online program right now, i'm skeptical of people doing a program online. It takes a lot of dedication to make sure you learn it.

Pissed off a preceptor and just a lot of personal issues. As for loans... Most medic programs up here are in the 6-10k range (all hospital run programs) and my credit is shot from me being an idiot 18 year old. Loans are something I just can't get unless it's something like the federal Stafford (which I will be taking out)

I in a small hole my self.. I applied to my local cc fore medic but there on a lottry system. The next best private schools does there program online and 8hrs of lecture/lab in class room setting. I got my A/s a UOP online and I know how easy online schools can be.. I just feel if i`m sitting in a oral board metting they might pick someone with community college level over a private school

Online is not easy. In fact will be tougher than regular as it requires much more personal study and dedication.

Online schools are eaiser in the fact of it is learn on your own... You are not in class 8hr a days. I went to emt in a class room.. I found it much harder to stay awake.. I read my emt book pretty much the week or two class started. Online school would work for me because I am deadicated. My worry is how acredited it is out in the field. Name of the school is EMS academy if anyone wants to look it up.
