On line training is no way to begin. There is no connection between the hands on and the educational component. Much of the practical time will be spent with you trying to reconcile what you learned online with what the instructor is trying to teach you. There will be differences and they can be very confusing.
For your initial course, you need to be able to discuss, question, get clarification on the areas where you are unclear. I have gradually been convinced that the online programs can be helpful as part of an ongoing training for those in very busy systems who are using their skills all the time.
In spite of what those selling these programs will tell you, their purpose is to provide EMS agencies a record that shows they met their requirements for presenting the information to you so that if your skills are questioned, they can appear blameless and shift said blame to the individual EMS provider. "We taught him right, must be his fault"
