Hey guys... So anyway I am done with my NREMT and county card is processing atm... well EMT-B is not my end of the road my real goal is to put the required 2k hours of work in so that I can go to paramedic school but honestly it doesn't seem like anyone is hiring atm... does anyone have any suggestions on where i maybe can work to get those hours done?

Well, volunteering is always an option and counts towards clinical hours logged as long as you're officially attending a station.

Also - this may not seem like such an appealing option - there are colleges all over the place that have paramedic programs that are really not that expensive and through those programs you can log the necessary hours to take your NREMT.

Not to assume you didn't think of those two options, being the most obvious. Figured I'd get the thread rolling perhaps? Maybe you've had such a hecktic day and didn't think about them and you're like holy crud he's right! And I actually helped. Or not.

Ok here is the thing now... I am a NR- EMT-B and I am looking to log 2000 hours in so that I can just get into paramedic school alone but as of right now I am have no way to get those 2000 hours maybe with the college thing you are pointing me in a different direction if so please let me know...

Just start putting in applications, and for the love of god don't say "I'm looking for 2000 hours before I go off to Paramedic school."

Rephrase that statement to: "I'm looking at going into Paramedic school once I feel comfortable as a Basic and have the necessary pre-reqs."

Volunteering is an option some places, but don't expect a good run volume. IFT companies hire quite frequently, but oftentimes you will gain limited experience with the decision making process, and you'll lose most of your skills if you don't make an effort to keep them up, but if it gets you into a paramedic program, and you're mindful of the downsides of working IFT, you'll be fine.

My apologies actually I wasn't pointing in a different direction. New to boards obviously and completely forgot to see where you are in the 'States.

My suggestion was based purely on Georgia (accidentally) where the local colleges I've seen will provide you with the necessary means to get the clinical time needed for the NREMT-P.

Hey, there's an option. Come to GA and do it here. lol Or not. Sorry mate.
