I worked with these guys for the 2 years I was with the county....

An off-duty lieutenant with the Ocean City-Wright Fire Department was charged with a DUI after he allegedly ran an Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputy off the road Sunday morning...............

Raiche was responding to a call when he swerved to avoid a head-on collision with an SUV going the wrong way in the southbound lanes of SR 85................

A witness wrote down the SUV's license number as the vehicle crossed back into the northbound lanes. Investigators tracked the license..........

A breath exam revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.13, according to the report. The legal limit 0.08.

That's a career-ender. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes. I hope the officer recovers quickly!

Nasty one!

I think we fully understand the intensions of the Lt. (Hopefully). It is just sad to see what alcohol does to people...

Hoping all's well thet ends well.

It is so unnecessary. I dont care of you want to have a drink or two, but stay off the roads and stay at home if you cant handle yourself. Get someone else to drive for you (someone that is sober). I will have more respect for a friend who phones me in the middle of the night - or whenever - asking me to pick him up than the one that drove and caused and accident whilst under the influence.

Here is SA I came across a few accidents where a LEO or other GE was under the influence.

I can remember I was attending an accident and the MPO on the scene had such a smell of alcohol on him that his fellow colleagues asked him to leave the scene.

Its just not worth it.

I don't care if this guy was fire/emt/LEO or the effing president of the USA he should be put on the chopping block for all to see. They need to make and example of this guy everyone needs to see that just because we are all in the profession of helping people doesn't mean we get away with murder or attempted murder. From the charges reported in the article sounds like he is getting off easy. Probably very little jail time if any.. If I were the responding officer I would throw the book at him and then hit him with it repeatedly. This cannot be tolerated. Its almost as upsetting to me to see that they are only charging this guy with a dui and fleeing the scene of an accident with injuries. just off the top of my head wreckless endagerment, aggrivated assault ( assault with a deadly weapon) in the state of az... extreme dui and if I could come up with more and make them stick but not knowing florida law.... I would send this guy to prison....
sorry for my rant. this it what hits home for me cops nearly killed or killed because of crap. he was on a legit call and was ran off the road by a drunk driver. a drunk driver of all people who should know better.
