Hello , Im a new EMT and got my certification about 4 months ago and havent been able to land a job yet . I have a NY State CLASS D drivers license and was oblivious until recently that there is a CLASS E , until recently that I saw it listed as a requirement for currently employed EMT's too begin there shift at a certain company I went too apply for . Then it sort of hit me maybe thats why no company has bothered to call me back ? So is a CLASS E license basically a qualification and a CLASS D a disqualification for employment ?

No. Class D is not the reason. Many people get hired with a class D license. Getting a class E is all a matter of paperwork and paying the fee. I think its like $45 or something in that ballpark. Takes a half hour at a DMV to do.

Companies have their choice of EMTs. All of a sudden they will call you out of the blue to come in for an interview when the previous people don't work out.

Just call them and follow up.
