We received this email today from Peter Knudson of NTSB Public Affairs.

I thought that EMTLIFE might be interested in the NTSB’s findings from its investigation into an emergency medical helicopter accident that occurred in Mosby, Mo, in August 2011. Here is a link to the press release: http://www.ntsb.gov/news/2013/130409.html

If you have any questions or would like to do a story, please get in touch.

Very interesting at the end. Just goes to show that even when you are not performing your job, it may be interpreted that you should be thinking about your job.... Not texting or calling.

Sad anyway.

Such a shame. Kind of scary that there was no reasoning on the pilots part. He knew he was low on fuel, so the possibility of a loss of power should have been in the back of his mind. Doubly worrisome that it was reflexive to enter an autorotation.

Very sad situation. Especially since it was avoidable.
