Ok very confused currently. I hold national, RI, and MA certification. I am working on squaring away my con ed for renewal in the next few months.

I know how to renew my national, and the requirements are the same for my RI renewal. However, renewing my MA is the issue. The reason is RI requires specific courses for the state/local section however those courses are not CAPCE approved therefore they can’t count for MA credit. However MA makes you renew through the nremt process, but on nremt you can only assign 10 hours for state/local. So if I assign my 10 hours from my RI requirements I cannot assign any MA approved training to the state/local section.

So in other words I can renew my nremt and RI no problem but then how can I renew my MA? My MA training officer can’t approve RI specific courses that don’t have an OEMS approval number towards my MA recertification. It makes no sense because I could literally let my MA expire then send in my new national card the next day and get my MA back.

Honestly I’m very disappointed with this renewal system thus far it has only made things more difficult for those of us working in multiple states.

Any ideas what to do?

Thanks

contact MA OEMS and ask them for clarification on what they will allow, before you let your Ma cert expire.
