I wanted to build an overhead projector screen, so I spent money and bought the screen material off of ebay. I would need to build my own frame, but that only included five pieces of wood, a staple gun, and a few screws.
The first time I tried it was a disaster. I upgraded from 1"x2"s to 1x4"s, bought a square-thing, and it turned out great.
Then I needed to use the staple gun to go around the wood frame and staple the material to the frame. Oh god did I butcher it. Now I spent far too much money on materials I can't use.
I have never in my life attempted to build something beyond the bed-side table I bought from Target freshman year of college. That construction project included lots of duct tape, and instead of creating the drawer, I simply duct taped the drawer front to the front of the table so it would look pretty. That table collapsed.
I thought maybe I could finally build something. I bought the material at Lowes (first time shopper), had the guy cut it... and then bought new wood and had him re-cut it when I found out the first cuts weren't equal. I bought the instructions, and even instructional DVD. It turned out crappy, and I wasted faaaarrrr too much money.
Time to put away the $9.99 tool kit I bought at target and take the wood out to the dumpster. I'm no Bob the Builder.
