Hospital Employees Train to Protect Themselves From Violent Patients

(Branson, MO) -- Health care providers are trained to treat people who are sick, but sometimes they can find themselves in a dangerous situation.

In many cases, health care workers are assaulted by the very same people they're trying to help. You may remember a security officer at Cox North died last summer after he was attacked by a patient.

But with the right moves and training, workers at area hospitals can survive potentially deadly.

As they help save lives, area health care workers are learning just how to save their own.

"These situations occur because remember in the emergency room a lot of times they're dealing with the same people that a police officer may come in contact with, not everyone is out there to hurt the health care provider. And sometimes a health care provider is so willing to help everyone else that they'll sometimes move themselves into a situation not being aware of the potential of the danger that may occur," said paramedic and police officer, Kip Teitsort, founder of DT4EMS.......................................................
