Hi everyone,

I love this forum. I am wondering if anyone has ever heard of CIEMT- California Institute of Medical Training in Long Beach, CA? They have classes for EMT-B that can be completed in 4, 7, or 9 weeks. The community colleges out here are all 16 - 18 weeks. It's not as expensive as other private programs that I've seen (about $900 compared to about $500 at a C.C.)

I am wondering if they have any credibility? Will anyone actually hire me since I don't have any medical experience? Or can I atleast volunteer in an E.R.? Even volunteer positions are limited without any certifications. I am dying to see some action (LOL... or just get my feet wet) and start working while I continue on this new path. I have a BS in Business, but again no medical background. I would love to eventually be a flight nurse/paramedic. I have completed all my prereq's for nursing programs so before I commit to a program, I'd like to get the EMT-B.

I would love any & all input!!

Thanks guys & gals!!

I never heard of that place. I went to Orange county emt in lake forest. (Website might be called occpr) it was a 3 month program, 3 days a week. The instructors are all firefighters and one is a paramedic but currently works for care ambulance. You should check them out. I just graduated a month ago and recently got a job with Symons ambulance

I went through CIEMT 4 week program no problemo. Had absolutely no problem getting jobs with absolutely no medical experience prior to going to CIEMT. It is an accelerated course, be prepared to keep up with the course work....they love to do (multiple daily) check on learning's. I.e. You just learned the organs of the abdominal cavity? They'll pick a student and have them name one (and in which quadrant), have the next person name one and so on all the way down the line....and be prepared for those sorts of spot quizzes throughout. They're really good IMO of finding out just who is and isn't studying/paying attention, so make sure you're actually taking notes (and reading them!)

I took the course (4 weeks) around 2 years ago. They teach you everything but how to write a successful narrative but that's easy to learn. I enjoyed my time in their program and was able to pass the NREMT on my first attempt.

Word of advice is make sure to study every day. I didn't read my course material all the time mainly because the notes we were given gave me all the info I needed to pass the tests.
