So this might sound dumb, but i am a brand new EMT-B and really nervous about starting a new job. I am terrified that i will mess up or forget something simple (but important). Advice welcomed!

Everyone messes up, learn from your mistakes and move on. Also there is not to much to mess up on as an EMT-B. Just keep up with your protocols and don't stop learning.

Well, EMS is a team effort. Others will know you are new and will guide you along. Everyone feels that way when they start, but eventually you realize that you might have questions, but you can still perform the job fine.

Welcome to the site and the world of EMS! It's a lot of fun, and a great place to learn (both the site and the career! :P)

The best advice that I can give you is this: you will mess something up, and you will forget something simple. Everybody does. The important thing is to learn from your mistakes, and let others learn from them too.

In addition, don't stop your education now that you've finished EMT school. Continue to learn. Ask questions (both on here and at work), look up information, and teach others. You can learn something from everyone you come into contact with, and you can teach something to everyone you come into contact with.

Stay safe!

Thank you. I start paramedic school this fall. My ride along could have been better. I know I am a worry wort.

As a paramedic in SA I'm not to sure what the scope EMT-B is entirely. Best advice, learn from those around you. Those with experience. Those who are higher qualified and those who are lower qualified. You can learn a lot from people you might not even expect and above all, do not panic! Stress, anxiety and fear can be healthy and keeps you alert but panic is when you make mistakes. If you feel the wheels falling off, stop, take a breath and think clearly and you'll find all the training and learning will come back

You're gonna mess up, everyone does it, you're not alone. Just learn from it and don't do it continuously and you'll be fine. Don't be afraid to ask if you don't know something, cause more than likely not, those people made the same mistakes you will.

That being said, welcome to the field!!
