So here I am, finally starting my career in EMS! First night on call, and worried about taking my uniform off in fears of being toned out and not getting ready fast enough to meet my partners! Rural EMS!! haha

One of the superstitions is that if you take your boots off you'll get a call so keep them boots on ;) (or not if you're bored)

They have anti-anxiety medications for exactly this sort of predicament. ;)

Nah, you need me there. I went to one of the busiest fire departments around to get my ride time in to get local hospital protocol. This department, if you listen to the scanner, is good for 4 or more calls per day (still rural Ohio, but larger township).

It took me three shifts to get my four calls in!
