Does anyone have a clue who is hiring in DFW area of TEXAS??

EMT level? No 911 agencies.

You'll have to stick to IFT companies such as AMR, MedicOne, etc etc.

emt-b...what is IFT? is that like non emergency transport?

Yes, non-emergency transport, like from the hospital to the nursing home, or hospital to hospital.

i guess theres nothing wrong with baby steps...even though 911 would be awesome...so who else do you know that does IFT...in dfw

POST...pickup/drop off patient.................POST..again...Go back to the station for some sleep...pickup/drop off patient......POST...Eat??!!?..Maybe....Well..You get the point....

I talked to a guy from Ameritech today..They are hiring....

AMR would be your best bet to get a mix of 911 and IFT..They run back up calls in Dallas and also run 911 for Arlington....I talked to an AMR guy a few weeks ago..They start you out as an IRT guy then throw you into 911 after they think you are ready....That is what he said anyway...

He basically said if you run 911 in Arlington You'll post or patrol the area based on what dispatch wants...

Keep in mind that AMR runs speed and driving monitors in their trucks..Basically it'll beep at you if you go too fast on the highway or too fast around corners..If it codes..It'll get sent to your supervisor...I think he said you have an 8 minute response time in Arlington..So if you go to fast you get in trouble...But, if you go to slow and are past the 8 minutes...Yup..You get in trouble.......

I've heard medstar runs something similar...

You could also come over to Guardian...That is if you love LONG hours..No respect and have the ability to handle getting yelled at for just about anything....lol

AMR Arlington is run separately from AMR Dallas. Two different divisions. Good luck getting on with Arlington, they have a wait list a mile long from Dallas EMTs and Paramedics trying to get on.

AMR Dallas is IFT. Doing the IFT trucks in Dallas, if you're on an ALS truck with a Paramedic, you MIGHT get sent up to Collin county to post for 911 if the Collin County trucks are all on calls. In my 9 months in Dallas, I did 3 911 calls in Collin County. If you're on an EMT/EMT or EMT/Intermediate truck, you will NOT be sent up there to do 911.

You will NOT run 911 in Dallas unless there's an MCI going on. You will run to the county jail or nursing homes for calls that SHOULD be 911, but again, those are typically reserved for Paramedic trucks... unless dispatch is an idiot and send an ALS truck on a BLS transfer, and an ILS truck on a symptomatic hypertension call..... yup... they did that.

AMR Dallas does have the speed GPS installed in the trucks where if you go over the speedlimit, the on-duty supervisor gets a page... who in turn sends you a page. Depending on which supervisor is on duty you might get a "Slow down" or a "Holy cow you guys got there fast *wink wink*". Or they might call you out over the radio. It doesn't care about g-forces, just speed.

MedStar and AMR Arlington, however, have the growler, which DOES register G-forces. Take a turn too fast and it will let you know in an annoying tone. You wrack up points by doing that, and at a certain point level in a month you get in trouble.

thanks guys for the info...so now is it better to fill out an application online or should i go up there and sign up? whats the best way to get a job? this might be a stupid question to yall but, i have filled out 4/5 apps in this area and no feedback...

does ameritech have a website?

Nope....You need too call or go in. Depending on what side of town you are in. They got a station on the east side (don't know where) and they got a station in Euless..

I don't know why these companies don't have websites...Websites are too cheap not to...

Try applying for a wheelchair van driver for a company...That'll get you in the door...The wheelchair business in dfw is pretty busy..We run 20 wheelchair vans running 6 days a week from 4am till 10pm...Eventually an EMT will not show up or just quit..Then you'll be there ready to go.....
