I was a contract medic before. You get paid decent and they have to give you a health and welfare wage which goes towards your medical insurance. It's not too bad a gig. How long the contract lasts is important as you might be switching between companies every time the contract changes or if it's scheduled to end. Each contract company is different for how they do things on their end but the base will decide how things are to be run and include that in the contract. If you have other questions ask and I will try to answer them. The only real downside is their is no long term stability to these contracts. The government can pull them at any time if they decide to move to civil service or military paramedics.

How long were you in. I just had a second interview. Nellis air force base, ED MEDIC, and cct medic, and some 911's they said. The company is loyal source is that who you worked for? The contract is 1 year long

I worked for different companies for about 18 months, but now work on a base as a GS paramedic. One thing I would ask then is how long they have been at Nellis. Some of the companies I know have been able to stay multiple years. Sounds like you will be working in the ER when not doing transports or 911. Not too bad a gig if you like staying busy.

The recruiter and the job description they sent me today, said i would be in the ed, but if a transport would come in, i would go on it, bc they have to send me to get my cct

whered you find this job? i tried applying at a couple AFB near me and cant seem to get a call back

Loyal source government recruiting. Does anyone live in Vegas...can you survive on 20.00 and hour

Did you speak with Bertha?

Where are you currently?

I haven't been able to speak with anyone yet. I know no contacts and I'm currently in Ohio!

I was thinking about applying there, will you be doing any 911? I also applied through usajobs for a medic opening on Nellis, is that a different position?

You work as a tech in the ER, and you do occasional BLS/ALS transfers.

While you are required to be CCT, any transfer that is "CCT" will have an RN/RT/possibly an MD accompanying.

Sure you do base 911, but seldomly. Mostly tech/sick call type of stuff.
