i live in cypress Texas and recently made a BIG mistake. I received a class B misdemeanor and class C misdemeanor for possession of less than 2oz of marijuana and a paraphernalia. I am now working as hard as I can with the court as well as completely taking marijuana out of my life which happened immediately the day I was arrested. Can anyone shed some light and please help me out as to the course of action I should take so that I may still get my EMT license. Thank you

Consult your lawyer and call DSHS and the NREMT. You need registry to obtain certification in Texas, and.both offices might have different rules

In very general terms, you should still be OK to certify, but employment is a whole seperate issue

How long ago did you receive this charges?

You are fine for the NREMT per their website. DSHS will be iffy, but will be on a case-by-case basis. Getting a job if you are allowed to certify is a whole different ball game. Look at the places you want to work and ask them about their policies first.

So I should still be able to get my license the problem is finding someone who will employ me?. I'm also going for differed adjudication for both charges and trying to get atleast one expunged or both of possible. I was arrested on the 18th of last month and have not even gone to court yet.

If the charges happened this recently. I would suspect you will have a hard time getting employment. But I'd still encourage you to try. Just be upfront and honest about what happened and how you learned about what not to do and are going about changing your life.
