Okay here's my story , and bear with me ..

I just finished EMT-B and got certified a couple weeks ago , I have how ever been riding with a volunteer agency for a couple months , and now looking for work. Here's my first question but not the reason I'm making this , could I put that down for experience since I wasnt EMT certified but I was riding? Ok back to the story , I here from a bunch of people you have to know someone in 99% of the paid companies where I live or you can't get in? And also that you HAVE to be 21 to be even be considered by 99% of the paid corps .. If those 2 things are true this would really suck :/ that's what I wanna do so bad and now I gotta wait 2 more years if this is true ? If it makes any difference I live in walden NY. If you have Any questions or need clarification to give me a good answer just ask away

I USERSTAND IT TAKES TIME TO FIND A JOB BUT I WANT TO KNOW IF ILL EVEN BE CONSIDERED SINCE IM 19 AND NOT 21.

Is there any industry in Walden, NY? My first EMS job was at an automobile manufacturing plant where we did security, fire and ems.

Maybe , I'm not really sure where I would find that out. I am however ; willing to travel if need be. But is it true you have to be 21 in most ems jobs ?

It looks like Transcare is hiring for its Poughkeepsie and Mt. Vernon locations and Mobile Life Support Services has open applications. Neither of them specifically state that you have to be 21 and Mobile Life Support specifically inquires about your prior volunteer experience. They're most likely not cake jobs, but the private EMS industry is a good way to gain some high volume "credible" experience so that in a few years you could get considered for one of the cushy town/city/county ambulance positions.

Not necessarily, NY has no state level rule about it. I grew up in Central NY before moving to Western NY and most (if not all) of the jobs in those areas were 18, especially with the private services.
