I am a college student in Ontario, and sucessfully finished first semester. I was in second semester in the winter and had to withdraw before the drop date as I was having troubles at home/school/health. I was advised to drop by my program coordinator with advice on coming back january 2011 to resume classes. I had been told that I would have no problem coming back, all I had to do was readmit in the fall.
I have since gotten an email saying that there was no place for me in january. The chair of the program has oversubscribed the program and there is a 99% chance there wont be any spot for me in placement.
Do I have any chance on fighting the issue, since I was advised to drop so I wouldn't have a bad mark on my transcript.

It doesn't matter if you have a chance. You'll never know unless you take a chance.

Good luck and don't back down if it's important to you. You may still fail but be certain a new door will open because of it and having tested your mettle, you'll be more ready to step through it.

You should have gotten a guarantee in writing of your spot coming back, signed by both you and your program coordinator. Hindsight is 20/20 though... for future stuff like this, ALWAYS get something in writing.

Register for it, and take it as high up the chain as you can. Any emails you have between you and the coordinator will help your case; print them out and take them with you.

Good luck to you...
