I am currently an EMT student in Maine. I plan on finishing up (getting the NREMT-B), working as an EMT-B for at least a year while taking some general ed courses, and then going for my associates in paramedicine. I would like to work as a paramedic in New York City. I know in order to do that I have to have A valid NYS DOH EMS-Paramedic Certificate. How hard is it to do this after you are already nationally registered and certified in your home state. How do you move and work in another state? How do I get that NYS certificate? Is it as simple as learning their protocols or taking a 1 week refresher course or similar?
