Hey guys, I'm currently living in Florida and have been working as an EMT for a large County based EMS service for the past couple of years. My wife and I are thinking about moving to Minnesota this summer. We are probably moving to the north metro area of the twin cities.

Who are the main EMS providers in that area? Are there any fire departments that provide transport as well? Also, who pays the best in the area. I currently hold my NREMT-B and Florida Fire Cert.

Thank you for your help!

Allina Health is in the north metro. They hire on a regular basis. Their starting pay for an EMT is $15.01. They use EMTs for both ALS and BLS. I have worked for them for over 25 years. I feel they have treated me right.

There is also North Memorial. In the metro EMTs would only be BLS. They might use EMTs in the Forest Lake area.

There are some service farther out that use EMTs, but the pay goes down and the requirement for being on call and etc. goes up.

As far as I know there are no transporting fire departments in that area.

Thank you for the info!

What kind of benefits do they offer? How is the pension plan? What is the hiring process like?

Thanks again!
Andrew
