Starts Monday. For the first week or so, an ambulance will still be sent to those calls just to be sure everything is matching up. After that, the first responder agencies might still be sent and do a basic set of vitals for the RN who will still be on the phone, but no ambulance unless deemed necessary. It's the PSIAM program, which has been used in Louisville, Ky with apparent good results.
Downside is that ProQA is used for the EMD aspect with dispatchers, so if someone says they're "not breathing right" it's automatically kicked up to a response, even though the average person will say they're not breathing normally because they cough...
Will be interesting to see how it works, supposed to help with some 10,000 calls.

MedStar is rolling out a new triage system to screen non-emergency calls and get patients to the right provider... possibly using a taxi
