Ok I know its all been discussed but it seems the post our irrelevant. .

but lately I have been thinking ab9ut online medic program. My wife is active duty and we dont have enough time to go into a traditional school and since I like in seattle.. its extremely competitive and always has about 6000 caniditates.. but any ways I work as an emt and have been for 3 year's. .. im just boared and ready to take the next step. .

I currently work on a critical care rig and feel I do have the foundation and basic skills to do an online program since im not brand new to ems like all the other peoole who post about online medic school.. I know some talented medics and I work hand in hand with them and very very skilled RNs who would be willing to help me with all clinical skills. And they cam also take me to drug school..

SO AS A QUALITY EMT WITH GOOD EXPERIENCE WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT THE ONLINE MEDIC PROGRAM. PLEASE DONT GIVE ME THE BS STUFF I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN THROUGH THE PROGRAM AND HOW COMPETENT THEY FELT AFTER COMPLETING IT.. I DONT WANT THE CERT TO SAY IM A MEDIC... I WANT IT BECAUSE I FEEL I WOULD BE A GREAT MEDIC AND IM READY TO LEARN TO BE ONE.

Which program specifically? What are your exact concerns? Have you ever done distance learning? Do you have a strong academic background? A quick forum search will give you a lot of answers, but you haven't really given is much info about yourself to give good advice.

Edit: there's no need for you to yell

Sorry I wasnt meaning to yell.. post this on my ohone didnt relize caps was on.. but any ways im thinking about doing Lenoir cc medic program. I have a great ability to learn about somthing I want to do for sure. I feel I can complete the program and pass.. and they bright side is I dont think its a cert mill due to there only charging 540 for the class and not 8000 like every wherr else.

I guess im just looking for someone that has been through there program and what they thought ..
I guess the things I have going for me is that I have a good emt background and and comfortable and competent in my skills and foundations.. like basically I feel I am totally capable how to asses and treat pt just need to learn the skills. And since I actually work in the field with medics and nurses I should have plenty of help.

Like is online becoming more accepted in the field and throughout the world of medics???? Here just not a good place to ask that because if your not medic ONE then your :censored::censored::censored::censored:ty... but anyways

540 certainly go for it, especially if you know you can't attend traditional program. I spend more than that for 2 day CME lol.

What foundations specifically are you referring to, have you taken A&P, chemistry, biology, pharmacology? I think being a good EMT should be a pre requisite for Paramedic school, but the reality is that by itself its not a particularly good indicator of how well someone is going to do in Medic school, at least not from what I've seen in my class.

Several experienced EMTs in my class failed pretty early on. One of them just couldn't wrap his mind around pharmacology and med math despite being an FTO and working on an ALS rig for much of his career. Another one for some odd reason just REALLY sucked at intubation, even on a mannequin. She failed every practical exam we had and couldn't get signed off for clinicals, and its not like we didn't get lots of practice time.

I think during our internship EMT experience will help, but so far in the class it really hasn't helped much. As others have said before, you get so much practice with EMT skills during the class that whatever disadvantage rookie EMTs have is gone after a short time.

I am actually in the second trimester at LCC. I will say that you have to be dedicated to having a decent load of homework each week, staying on top of your readings, and clinical hours. For example my class started with 24, we are down to 12 with half the class dropping out due to not being able to keep up. You cannot beat the price of the course.

The course is set up to where you have weekly assignments, usually a quiz and a test, maybe a paper to do. They are timed and pretty difficult. You just have to be on top of it. I have found that most of the medic's that I have worked with find the idea of an "online" medic school pretty interesting. The local program is about 6000 so when I tell them why I went to NC they understand.

Overall I would reccommend it, they have an online A&P class that you can take for an additional 180 if you don't have the required A&P class. It's not that bad just a lot to do.

You find your own clinical sites and that can be a challange but most places are willing to work with you.

If you have anymore questions, PM me.
