I'm probably a little late to the game on this but apparently old women take viagra to improve renal function...
On a chest pain call today and my medic asked this old woman if she took viagra, and I though wow this lady is stupid! then I realized it was I who in fact was stupid. lol thought I would share that with you. enjoy the handgrenade bashing!!

Viagra can also be used to treat pulmonary hypertension. It was originally created to be a cardiac drug, similar to nitro, but as we all know it actually did something else better.

It might be wise to learn the other names for it since you will see this drug in the pediatric population as well.

Like the others said, Viagra can be used for more than just erectile dysfunction. Sildenafil (Viagra) is also for pulmonary arterial hypertension and even high altitude pulmonary edema/altitude sickness. Actually, some athletes believe that Sildenafil will help their performance because of the drug's vasodilation properties.

Also, some people use it for recreational use in a poly drug use fashion. Adding Sildenafil with MDMA or other amphetamines compensates for said amphetamines' side effect of erectile dysfunction (common street names for MDMA+Sildenafil are "trail mix", "rockin' and rollin'" or "sextacy").

Make yourself aware of all the varying trade names for medications that include sildenafil. Not all are marketed for erectile dysfunction.
Revatio is currently being marketed for primary and secondary pulmonary hypertension. It's primary ingredient (right word?) is sildenafil. Your usual ED type questions won't catch this one.
