 So o.k. folks you know when you run the little old ladies calls and they start complaining about other little old ladies in their senior apartment complex while you are getting their sample hx. My mom has gotten to that point and OH GOD IT DRIVES ME NUTS!!!!   And heaven forbid, you try to be the devil's advocate ( now there's a play on words!) to make everyone calm down and get along. I can see it now, the new geriatric soap opera, " As the walkers turns!" Sorry, my mom called as I was on line and I needed to vent.....Bless her heart! ;)

And just think what an inexpensive soap it would be to produce! With all the alzhiemers patients, you would only ever have to make one episode! :P

Sorry your mom is driving you nuts.

No Alzhiemer's disease yet, just a severe case of old ladyitis!:P I guess I'm at a point in my life were I see my mom slowing down, It's kind of weird I just don't know what to say at times. You hear patients say this all of the time, " It just seemed like yesterday I was 21" I changed that to " For me it seemed like 6 months ago!" -_-

Wasn't implying I thought your mom had alzhiemers, just my feeble attempt at some humor. Sorry for the confusion.

I feel for you though. I am not looking forward to my dad slowing down in the coming years either.

No worries Epi-do!:)

oh yes, I know that one. Old poots are the most NOSY people on the planet sometimes!

Nothing gets them out from in front of the TV like a couple of EMTs with a gurney coming in the door. I think we even stopped a bingo game once.

You Stopped A Bingo Game!! You Are Brave!!

If you need a senior chuckle... We are constantly dispatched to the local Alzheimer's unit for.........wait for it........Altered mental status. We collectively figure it means the person woke up completely oriented and alert.

Yeah...we get that too. I once went through the "is this different from normal" line of question and was told that it wasn't any different... so I then asked WHY THEY CALLED US... their response "they have a fever. WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST TELL ME THAT... why go through the change in mental status?

LOL When I was working as a CNA in the nursing home we had an Alzheimers pt. call 9-1-1 without telling the nurses, we didnt know what to do when the local ambulance service did show up.

We have one patient with a lengthy medical history, including the onset of Alzheimer's. He always tries to hide his medicines, prompting an Easter egg hunt throughout his house every time we go to pick him up. And bless his heart, he can usually find them before we can!

I take it he is one of your frequent flyers, BLESS HIS HEART!!^_^
