Trying to see what different ambulance companies in LA (both 911 and IFT) pay new employees.

Do they pay the entire shift or only if you get calls?
Any call bonuses?
Part-time / full-time positions?
Is the listed pay for 24 hour shifts or shorter shifts?
For 911 companies, how much of it is IFT call volume?

It seems impossible to get companies to give you this information without going down and talking to them personally.

Also, if anyone knows where they run their different stations out of?

there are literally 100 ambulance companies in the LA county area with new ones popping up everyday. You are going to have to be more specific as to which ones you want info from.
As far as pay they are all very similiar. A few more dollars here or there but not a crazy difference

At the near minimum wage of Basics a "few more dollars here or there" could be a 30% difference. That's quite a bit.

it really Depends on the company

i worked at two different IFT Companies, Liberty Ambulance and Now Ambuserve

At Liberty the Pay was $12.00/Hr and at Ambuserve its $9.50/Hr
both of the companies usually had about a 100(give or take) call a day call volume spread around a bunch of units.
IFT= $9.50-$12 for EMT $11-16 for Paramedic. 911= $8.50-$10.50
Alot of the companies in LA County (including 911) Usually pay by the Hour and not by Call
911 companies usually run 24 hour shifts, while IFT's are 8,10,12 occasionally 24

i havnt worked for a 911 company yet, so i cant say much about that subject, i hope ill eventually get on with a 911 company

I was told there were about 50 companies within the county. I don't necessarily need specifics on any one of them, except maybe for the "bigger names" (open to opinion). Trying to see if I could supplement my income. I wouldn't necessarily be going be going for a specific company, rather for a rate range, then seeing which is best (for this specific purpose in my life right now).

As of two years ago, I knew one IFT company that paid almost 200% more than a popular 911 company. But with changing economy, that's changed a lot. Just trying to see what the "state of things" is....

Some don't care if you have experience. Some do. Some won't pay if you don't run calls. Some pay by the hour, but then give call bonuses. Etc. Etc.

Well what do you do right now?

There are alot of companies in LA County but only a handfull are acctually certified with La County about 15-20 or so Including 911 companies

heres a list of them: http://ems.dhs.lacounty.gov/AmbulanceLicensing/Overnames.pdf

i would start with those companies, as companies that arnt certified with LA County are ticking timebombs/ extremely shiesty

It really depends on your Availablity, Usually the bigger name companies (Mccormick,Care,Bowers/Pacific) have no wiggle room on Availablity and require your scedule to be open 24/7( because of the sheer number of applicants), alot of the smaller IFT companies are nicer about it.
