Hey everyone, hope everyone had a a great holiday!
My wife and I (and 3 kids) are looking to make a move to the southwest in the next year or so. The 2 cities or general metro areas that we have narrowed it down to are Phoenix, and Las Vegas. I am a Nationally Registered Paramedic, my wife is a Nationally Registered EMT, Certified EMD, and will be a NREMT-P before the move. What I am reaching out to all of you for is to find out a few pieces of info to help our decision.
A) How are the job prospects in each area?
I'm not a fire fighter, so it would probably be private EMS or as an ER tech for us (We both work the road in Metro Detroit, she is a dispatcher, and I also am an ER Medic)
B) How are the wages in these areas?
(A medic here can expect around $13.00 an hour to start as a Paramedic)
C) Are there any additional certifications that are needed to work in these areas?
(Only ACLS and BLS are required here above your license)
D) How are each of these areas to live / work in?
E) How are the schools in these areas?
We have 3 young kids, and this is kinda important
F) Anything that anyone would like to let me know that may help one way or another.
