So I've been working for a BLS company here in San Diego for about a year now and I've seen that Rural Metro is hiring and I'd like to hear from any emts that have made the switch from other ambulance companies here in SD to RM. Firstly what is the hirin process like / how much do they pay new hires / what do they offer in terms of scheduling shifts (8, 10, 12, 24hr shifts?) / do emts run with medics or am I looking at strictly running BLS if hired? If emts have switched companies then it what were the decidin factors in leaving your past job? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not unhappy at my current company but I would like to be able to have a better schedule that would build in more time off and have the possibility of working at a more diverse company where the potential for running different types of calls is possible.
