Looking for Chicago EMS employment info?

Hey everyone,

I recently received my emt-b cert. in PA and with the current problems in Chicago I'd like to relocate and help (I like the city too). I was wondering if anyone has information on good and bad services in the area, and maybe what the average pay is for an emt-b? Any information is greatly appreciated.

what current problems in chicago?

most of the privates pay around the same for B's 9ish an hour some give call or paperwork bonuses.

Superior pays the most and has the highest call bonus but you have to wear long sleeve dress shirt with slacks black shoes and a tie.

everyone else - medex/lifeline/vanderburg/ect they are all pretty much the same = how your work day goes largely depends on who you work with an how that particular station is run.

Some of the ED's in hospitals take EMT-B's to work in the ER an their base pay is better 13-14$ an hour but they generally want at least a years field experience.
