Long List of Protocols

I had an Interview On Tuesday and was offered the job....but I have to pass a system entry exam with an 80% come Friday. I'm not sure what to expect of It, the company gave me this long list of papers to study with and I only have 2 days to study for It. Do you really have to know every protocol step by step to pass the system entry exam? Does every service have this system entry exam?

I would imagine you have to know about 80% of them.

If it's a test done by your employer, it depends what your employer wants. If you want to take a chance, you could mention the company name and location to see if anybody has tested with them before.

I think protocols in general are usually the same as what they taught you in EMT class, so it's not like you're learning from scratch. I have hundreds of pages of protocols, I don't remember what it says verbatum, but I know what they are because they are what I learned in school and know what my agency allows me to do.

Have you looked at them? I bet it's not too hard. I doubt they'll ask questions like "What is step 3 of protocol 700-M11?"

And yes a lot of the things I learned In my EMT course is In the protocols, difference Is that their totally different steps, Example In my EMT course we were taught to assess Mental Status first(AVPU) and then assess ABCs afterwards, well on the protocols It's the opposite. Also we were taught to assist patient In taking Nitroglycerin only If patient has not taking erectile dysfunction medication In last 48 hours, well on these protocols It's assist In taking Nitro If patient has not taking Erectile Dysfunction meds In last 36 hours.

Yes I have looked at them.

Learn and understand every treatment in the protocols to the fullest. That way, you won't need the protocol to know where that treatment fits in and when.

If I know what nitroglycerin or aspirin does, odds are I am going to remember it is part of the suspected MI protocol when I see it on a test.

Oh okay I have been stresding these past few days because I really want to start working the protocols are extremely long and I have only until tomorrow to remember them all. If I somehow fail to pass this exam tomorrow I might call my career In Ems a quits because It has been almost 8 months and when I finally did get an opportunity to work I failed. I've forgotton atleast half of the material I've learned In that course already honestly. Just Today whrn I was going over pediatric or delivery protocols I was clueless because it's been so long.
