Great article, and great vantage point. I would be very curious to hear both sides, but one imagines there has to be some reason they have been on such a recruiting drive for foreign medics.

From what I've heard from someone who works for the LAS...it's an absolute disaster right now.

Been running Code Purples, basically all calls, which are supposed to be reserved for massive emergencies, almost constantly.

Interesting video and article. Would love to hear from someone with an inside view.

I really appreciate you posting this. As a rookie I'm looking down the road to paramedic school, and as someone with a chronic case of wanderlust I look at my options of overseas work. London and the whole of England seemed like a reasonable starting point for a foreign career. I noticed on other forums here that they are certainly recruiting Australians, but are willing to work hard to get qualified American paramedics, too.

You won't see me signing up for that tour of duty once I graduate paramedic school. I doubt they'll be able to rectify the systemic chaos that is in the LAS, which is a shame.

London is way to expensive, not to say just plain unaffordable, to live on a paramedic salary. and if you choose to commuter everyday...any type of transport is also very expensive and time consuming. Hence, many paramedics move out to other cities and regions where they can actually enjoy life.
